For only the second time in its 20+ year history of applying colours to years, the Pantone Color Institute has chosen two contrasting colours to represent 2021 – Ultimate Grey and Illuminating.
While this may seem like an ~interesting~ choice at first, Pantone’s aim to bring, “a message of happiness supported by fortitude,” to the fashion, design (and doggo!) worlds makes perfect sense after the year we’ve all been through.
Besides, the union of a cheerful yellow with a cool, practical grey does have a sophisticated look that we’re totally vibing. And it is a colour combination repeatedly referenced by Prada over the years. So hey, if it’s good enough for Prada, it’s good enough for us!
