Frozen Pumpkin Treats for Dogs

#DoggyBlog #Poop4U

We’ve had an unusually warm September here in the midwest, and it looks like October will be starting out the same way. Mother Nature likes to keep us guessing, I suppose.

One thing that’s absolutely perfect for this time of year is these frozen pumpkin treats for dogs. They’re cool and satisfying on the overly warm days, and they bring the seasonal taste of pumpkin on the more Fall-like days.

This oh so simple recipe is made from just 4 ingredients, including pumpkin, a seasonal favorite. Pumpkin is a super food that is great for dogs. It’s rich in antioxidants and may also help when your dog is suffering with constipation and diarrhea.

More importantly, it’s delicious and dogs seem to go crazy for it, whether it’s pumpkin spice season or not.

Another of the 4 ingredients is fish oil. EPA and DHA, the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, may improve your dog’s skin, assist in lowering blood pressure and triglycerides, and reduce allergies and inflammation.

The other ingredients are plain yogurt and brewer’s yeast, so I’m sure you can already see what a simple and healthy treat recipe this is, and why you and your dog will love it.

To make these treats for your own dog, simply add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl and blend until smooth. My dogs start dancing around the kitchen as soon as they smell the fish oil!

Next, add the mixture to silicone molds. I use some super cute bone and paw shaped molds, and they make the cutest treats!

Adding the mixture to the molds can get a bit messy, so I like to use a turkey baster to fill them. It makes the job a lot tidier and quicker!

Place the silicone molds in your freezer for at least 3 hours or until the mixture is completely frozen.

Once frozen, I pop the treats out of the molds and store them in a ziploc bag in the freezer. They will keep for approximately 30 days this way, unless of course your dog eats them all before then!
